Obtaining Better Security with Strong Passwords
Strong passwords, unlike the regular passwords, consist
of random characters not related with one another anyhow; i.e. they are
not words or parts of words. Strong passwords provide much better protection
than the regular passwords do. The only shortage of any strong password
is – it is hard to memorize it.
Double Password resolves this issue by providing you with
Password Encoding Tool.

Generating Strong Passwords
To generate a strong password:
1.Click on the Encoding tab.
2.Select the Enable encoding checkbox.
3.Type the password to be encoded in the field on the
left and then press the Spacebar.
The encoded password will appear in the field on the right.
Using Strong Passwords
Using strong passwords is much simpler than it seems.
Suppose you want to create an account on Yahoo! Mail.

1.Open your favorite web browser and browse to the new account
registration page by clicking on the Sign Up button.
2.On the New Yahoo! ID page that appears, enter
the required information (your name, desired Yahoo ID, etc.) in the corresponding
fields.
3.Scroll down to the Password field and
enter the desired password. To make it simpler, just type in “123”;
this way you will not forget it.
4.Press the SPACEBAR after that, and Double
Password will automatically encrypt your password.
5.Enter the password again in the Re-type
password field and then hit the SPACEBAR again, and Double
Password will automatically encrypt the password confirmation.
That’s it; your password is now encrypted.
6.Enter the rest of the required information and then submit
the data by clicking on the Submit This Form Securely
button.
7.Open the Yahoo! Mail main page in your browser
and type in your Yahoo user ID in the Yahoo ID field.
8.Enter the password in the Password field
and then hit the SPACEBAR. Your simple password has been
replaced with the strong password, and you can now proceed to your mailbox
– click Sign In.
Feel free to work with any number of passwords (forums,
blogs, mail, discussion groups, etc.) and don’t be afraid of forgetting
them – Double Password will remember them for you and will not allow
anyone to access your data without your expressed permission.
Encryption Key
Double Password generates the encryption key automatically
and stores it in the program’s operating folder on your hard disk
and on your flash disk. You may set the priority to how the program should
search for the encryption key.
To have Double Password look for the encryption key on your
flash disk before looking for the key on the hard drive, select the First
search the USB disk and then the hard drive for the key checkbox
at the bottom of the Encoding passwords group. |
